What determines the price of a kitten?
Many things unfortunately... The more closely a kitten aligns with the breed standard usually dictates a kittens price, as well as overall personality. Kittens placed in an approved breeding program or within a show home will have an additional fee added to their purchase price. Kittens of exceptional type and rare or unique colors and patterns can also dictate pricing.
My F4SBT kittens will typically range between $2000-$2500, depending on trait evaluation and personality. Kittens may not be priced right at birth or may change as they develop. It can take several weeks (as ears set, eyes open, etc.) to make a proper assessment on type.
The Savannah Breed Standard as outlined by The International Cat Association (TICA) can be found by clicking here.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Paypal, cash, personal checks, cashier's checks and money orders are accepted. All payments MUST be cleared before a kitten will be reserved or any shipping arrangements made. If any payment comes back as returned, the sale shall be immediately suspended.
When is payment due?
A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a kitten. Once the reservation is made, you have until the kitten is 12 weeks old to provide full payment, 10 weeks if the kitten has to flown or cargo shipped to your location. This allows enough time to allow payment(s) to clear, make shipping arrangements, and schedule the vet appt needed for your kitten's certificate of health. If the kitten is 10 weeks or older, full payment is expected along with signed purchase agreement. If payment in not received in full by the time the kitten has reached 10-12 weeks of age (and no other arrangements have been made by buyer in advance), the kitten will no longer be held for the buyer and can then be purchased by a different party and the deposit is then forfeit.
Do you offer payment plans?
It depends on what you consider a payment plan. Purchasing a Savannah can be a big fiscal decision, but shouldn't break your bank. Thus I allow a minimal payment plan. Once a deposit is made, I allow that remainder to be paid in full by the time the kitten is 10-12 weeks of age, and you can pay in whatever installments you'd like up until that point. Occasionally I will work out other possible payment arrangements, but that is contingent on circumstances and must be previously agreed upon by the breeder/buyer and outlined in the purchase agreement.
When can kittens join their furr-ever families?
All kittens will be shipped or delivered at about 12 weeks of age. This ensures that all kittens receive the proper vaccinations and health checks before leaving Sunpaw.
Why are all your photos watermarked?
Due to the increase in scammers, all photos are watermarked to deter theft and to protect buyers and fellow breeders. Once a deposit has been placed to reserve a kitten, updated photos will be sent without the Sunpaw watermark. I'm sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you.
Are Savannahs legal where I live?
Though I have a great memory, I have not memorized all the hybrid legislation in all 50 states. Please visit http://www.hybridlaw.com/index.php and check your state laws regarding hybrid ownership before you plan to purchase a Savannah or other exotic hybrid. Many states have restrictions on hybrid ownership and/or the ownership of certain generations (mostly F1-F3) or could require a permit to own one. I do not sell to states where Savannahs are illegal. If a state requires a permit or has other requirements to own a Savannah, proof may be required before a purchase can be finalized.
Can I get my kitten sooner if I spay/neuter myself, if it's Christmas, etc.?
NO. They leave at 12 weeks. I also will not allow any kitten to leave Sunpaw as a pet unless spayed or neutered prior to entering their new homes.
Do you allow declaw? Why or why not?
NO. I do not allow any of my kittens to go to homes where they will be declawed for any reason. Declawing a cat or kitten can be a horrific experience for them and disrupts many of their natural behaviors, often being replaced by unfavorable ones. Declawing can also lead to numerous health issues, month to even years after the procedure, the most notorious being litter box and temperament issues.
*We are more than happy to offer advice and counseling on behavior modification and humane solutions for dealing with cats using their claws in ways deemed inappropriate. Please just ask!
Are Savannahs hypoallergenic?
No they are not. While I'll have to say their fur is different than your typical domestic breed, they are not hypoallergenic. I personally have two friends of mine that are severely allergic to cats and they still react to mine.
